Melissa’s paintings and drawings are rooted in her long standing interest in art and design; staunchly walking the line between timelessness and trend. Informed by a dedicated doodle practice, her works are composed of lines, energetic orbs, and symbols set within layered atmospheric colors fields. Created within an intuitive flow, the various compositions are meant to mimic the rhythmic patterns and cycles of the human psyche.
Melissa DelPrete grew up on Long Island and studied at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Upon graduating with a BFA in 2009, she was awarded the excellence in painting distinction. In 2015 Melissa earned an M.S. in art education and began teaching freelance art courses while simultaneously deepening her art making practice. Melissa is currently living in Lake Worth Beach and in addition to maintaining her painting practice, is immersed in establishing mtn space, an art gallery and residency program dedicated to exhibiting emerging and established artists.
