Lily Morris grew up on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, and attended Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy, in 2007. She graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, MA in 2009.
Lily’s work has been featured in the Netflix original film Bird Box, Playboy Magazine, and in the HBO series The Undoing. Her solo shows include “American Dream” at A Gallery on Martha’s Vineyard, “The Event” at Unit One in the 798 District of Beijing, China, and “Aeria Signum” at Thompson Giroux Gallery in NY. She has participated in multiple group shows including “The Salon,” a collaboration between the Peabody Essex Museum and curator Olivia Ives-Flores, “Sound Source” at MoMA PS1, and “The Young Collectors Exhibition” at Leila Heller Gallery in NY. She currently lives and works in Chatham, NY.
Mtn Space gallery in Lake Worth Beach will unveil an exhibit of new bodies of work by New York-based painter Lily Morris, February 10. In Lily Morris: Witchcraft, several of the artist’s large-scale photorealistic paintings of women in unearthly settings, such as Arrival (2023) and Descent (2022), will be showcased. The works imagine women free from repression, with Morris inserting herself within a framework to disrupt it from the inside.
